Cultural Innovations was appointed in 2017 to design and develop a visitor centre in the Maldives, part of a new island complex. The Emma Emboodhoo site comprises of a number of islands, with the visitor centre creating part of the welcome experiences to the complex.
Content & Interpretation
Cultural Innovations developed the content and interpretation for the visitor centre. The importance of coral and the rich and diverse ecosystem that surrounds the islands is explored within the centre. Visitors understand the conservation projects being undertaken in and around the Emboodhoo complex to preserve the previous life, whilst exploring how local Maldivian communities live in the diverse environment.
Exhibition Design
Comprising of an exhibition area of just over 330 sq.m the visitor centre forms a key moment within the visitor journey, from their arrival to the complex and as they transition between islands. Cultural Innovations developed the design of the centre, comprising of hands-on interactives, powerful and thought-provoking graphics, audio-visual exhibits, and theatre and retail experiences to create an engaging environment for visitors of all ages.
