Da Lat Biology Museum
Content & Interpretation - Exhibition Design
Client: Tay Nguyen Institute for Scientific Research (TNISR)
Location: Da Lat, Vietnam
Size: 2,500sqm
Completed: 2017 - 2018
Cultural Innovations was appointed in 2017 by the Tay Nguyen Institute for Scientific Research to re-develop and expand the existing museum. The museum tells the story of the diverse biology found within the Vietnamese Central Highlands, specifically the region of Da Lat. Cultural Innovations is responsible for the content development, interpretation and exhibition design for the entire museum.
The existing building started life as a catholic monastery with a number of very small, cell-like spaces. Cultural Innovations worked closely with the client to produce a more open space, which lends itself to a museum experience. The museum consists of 2,500 sqm of exhibition space, covering three stories of the existing building.
Content & Interpretation
Our team developed the content and interpretation of the museum. Exhibits encourage visitors to gain a deeper understanding of the flora and fauna within the Da Lat region, whilst understanding the important research undertaken by the neighbouring research institute.
Exhibition Design
Cultural Innovations developed the exhibition and graphic design of the five key content zones, using a variety of techniques from impressive large scale object displays to interactive and audio-visual exhibits. Alongside the core visitor experience, a number of ancillary areas enhance the visitor experience. These spaces include a hands-on discovery lab, a nature classroom and the more traditional spaces of a museum café, retail area and library.
