Battersea Heritage and Learning Hub
Content & Interpretation - Exhibition Design
Client: Battersea Power Station Development Company (BPSDC)
Location: London, UK
Size: 25sqm
Completed: 2018
Battersea Power Station is a Grade II* listed building which has recently undergone redevelopment and regeneration to create a new neighbourhood for locals, residents and tourists.
Construction for the original power station began in 1929 and throughout its working life from 1933 to 1983, Battersea Power Station burned coal to generate electricity for London. In the last few decades, the power station has remained closed until its reopening in 2022.
Cultural Innovations was commissioned by BPSDC to provide content interpretation and design for the Heritage Hub, an exhibition space situated in one of the entrance ways leading up to the power station. The team worked closely with The Hub, specialist exhibition fabricators to deliver this historic exhibition experience.
Content & Interpretation
Cultural Innovations developed the exhibition content and interpretation, creating an exhibition which tells the stories of the heritage, regeneration and future of the power station, as well as providing a space for education programmes and community events to take place.
Exhibition Design
Developing the exhibition and graphic design of the Heritage Hub, our team created a welcoming space for all visitors to explore and engage with the power stations history. Displays included historic artefacts from the original power station, audio-visual exhibits and eye-catching graphics.
