Addiriyah is a settlement located on Wadi Hanifah to the northwest of Arriyadh, covering an area of about 10 square kilometres. The Historical Precinct of Addiriyah is one of the most important national heritage sites of Saudi Arabia, being the capital of the First Saudi State. It is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, inscribed in 2010. The development programme has witnessed the UNESCO listing of At-Turaif as a World Heritage Site.
Cultural Innovations began working with the Arriyadh Development Authority (ADA) in April 2011 on the content review and development of the galleries and exhibitions within five museums across the At-Turaif world heritage site.
Cultural Innovations were additionally appointed to develop the design of the Visitor Reception Centre, which forms the visitors welcome into this historic site.
Content & Interpretation
Cultural Innovations managed the development of all the content and interpretation for the individual museums, including the development of new exhibits to widen appeal to new audiences, particularly young people, families and schools.
The team additionally developed the content and interpretation of the Visitor Reception Centre, collaborating with the ADA to develop an introductory experience to the site, setting the scene for visitors to continue their journey throughout the settlement.
Exhibition Design
As part of our overall programme of work at At-Turaif Cultural Innovations developed the design of the At-Turaif Visitor Reception Centre, which allows visitors to understand the World Heritage Site and plan their visit around the numerous facilities located there- including five new museums.
Since opening the Welcome Centre has become an integral part of the site, welcoming visitors to the World Heritage Site, and creating a space for functions and special events.
