Arabic Science Museum (SAASCC)
Kuwait City, Kuwait
The Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem Cultural Centre (SAASCC) is a 13 hectare site in the Al-Sha’ab district of Kuwait City currently being developed by the Amiri Diwan. Construction has now started on four world-class museums covering Arabic Science, Space, Natural History and Science, together with a Theatre and Fine Arts Centre. A central shaded “street” will provide a public connection between the four museums.
Cultural Innovations was appointed – initially by DAR SSH International Engineering Consultants and now by Alghanim International - to develop the museum’s content and exhibition design, with the aim of providing an invaluable resource for Kuwaiti schools and colleges, as well as a landmark attraction for families from Kuwait, the Middle East and beyond. We have appointed Jasper Jacob Associates to help with the content development and design of the museum.
The Arabic Science Museum (2,000m²) will be an interactive, object-rich exploration of the Islamic civilisation, examining the people and innovations that played a crucial part in the development of intellectual thought in our world. The museum explores how and why the Islamic civilisation flourished from the 8th to the 15th century and the impact on our world and lives today.
