Cultural Innovations project managed this exhibition, which opened in October 2009 - the sixth in a series of temporary exhibitions.
The exhibition has five main zones that follow the history of the Maharajas:
The Royal Spectacle - the splendor and tradition of the procession depicts the wealth and power of the Maharajas
Kingship in India - examining the notions of kingship the displays will depict both private and public aspects of royal life
Shifting Power - five exhibits communicating examples of the key families, dynasties and rulers
The Raj - the space will depict large impressive scenes of the Durbar through ceiling to floor paintings and film projections
Indian Princes - illustrates how the Maharajas were influenced by European tastes and styles in the early 20th Century
