ADACH is charged with conserving and promoting the heritage and culture of Abu Dhabi, which includes encouraging creativity and intellectual achievements in the arts.

In 2009, ADACH asked Cultural Innovations to carry out a Feasibility Study and International Benchmark Study in connection with the development of an Artists Residence in Al Ain. Not only would this be the first Artists Residence in Abu Dhabi and the UAE, it would also be unique in the Middle East in being a combined facility for both the visual arts and the performing arts. It is envisaged that the facility will serve both visiting and local artists, allowing them to showcase their work to a public audience from Al Ain and beyond.

The International Benchmark Study allowed Cultural Innovations to examine current trends in best practice with Artists Residences around the world and the final report and findings have played an important part in informing the development of this important project for Abu Dhabi.
