Power of Place: The Making of Battersea Power Station

Client:          Battersea Power Station Development Company (BPSDC)
Location:     London, United Kingdom
Timescale:   2022

Created to celebrate the reopening of Battersea Power Station in 2022, the Power of Place exhibition tells the story of 40 years of creative development proposals for the former industrial site, since ceasing power generation in 1983.

Cultural Innovations were reengaged by BPSDC following the success of their learning hub in 2018. Cultural Innovations provided content, interpretation and design from concept to final delivery in time for the opening celebrations.

With unprecedented access to the archives of Battersea Power Station, Cultural Innovations told an unknown chapter in the story of this cultural landmark using historic artworks and original models. Responding to the client’s brief, the design is flexible to allow the exhibit to relocate and be reconfigured as the newly opened building evolves.
